Vote in Elections

 

To vote in Hardtner, Kansas, you must be a registered voter in Barber County and be a U.S. citizen and resident of Kansas. You can cast your ballot in person on Election Day, vote early in person, or request an absentee ballot to vote by mail. 

Voter registration requirements and process

  • Deadline: You must register at least 21 days before any election. You can check your registration status online at myvoteinfo.voteks.org.
  • Qualifications:
    • You must be a U.S. citizen.
    • You must be a resident of Kansas.
    • You must be 18 years old by the next election.
    • You must not be serving a sentence for a felony conviction.
  • How to register:
    • Online: Use the Kansas Online Voter Registration application on the Kansas Department of Revenue website. You will need a valid Kansas driver's license or state-issued identification card.
    • By mail: Fill out and mail the National Voter Registration Form. It must be postmarked at least 21 days before Election Day.
    • In person: Register at your local Barber County election office or a Kansas motor vehicles office. 

Ways to vote

  • In-person on Election Day:
    • What to bring: A valid photo ID is required to vote. Acceptable forms of ID include a Kansas driver's license, a U.S. passport, or a military ID.
    • Polls: Polls in Kansas are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Central Time.
  • Advance voting (in-person):
    • Timeframe: In-person advance voting is available at the county election office, and sometimes at satellite locations, up to 20 days before Election Day.
    • What to bring: You will need to show a valid photo ID.
  • Advance voting (by mail):
    • Application: Any registered voter can request an advance mail ballot. You must complete and return an application to the Barber County election office.
    • Deadline: The application must be received by the county election office no later than seven days before the election.
    • New law: Effective January 1, 2026, all advance ballots must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day to be counted.
    • What to include: You must provide your Kansas driver's license number or a copy of a valid photo ID with your application.
